Awang Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Bakar Minister of industry and primary resources, Brunei Darussalam
Is in favour of the proposed ASEAN common visa which would certainly have an favourable affect on the movement of certain visitors between ASEAN countries. Not much to gain for visitors from Europe/USA/Australia etc which already enjoy visa free entry to most countries concerned.
While the minister recognized the trend of consumer worldwide to seek “experimental, life-enriching “ vacations that involve nature, culture and the outdoors which Brunei has to offer the main problem in attracting more tourist is the total lack of any venues of entertainment. E.g no bar,s , clubs, pub,s . However the need is there indicated by the large number of Brunei residents “escaping” over the weekend to neighbouring countries. Particularly the bar, restaurant, entertainment district of (Partytown) Miri in Sarawak Is flooded with visiting Brunei residents.
