Cebu Pacific (pdf file) Philippines largest carrier and renowned low cost airline offering four flights weekly up to end November and five weekly flights starting December. Fares start at A$ 670.– for the return ticket without check in luggage, no pre assigned seat and no meals. Philippine Airlines by comparison offers the return fare to Manila for A$ 769.– however this includes check in luggage of 23 kg and meals. With Cebu Pacific this would come to A$ 780.- including 15 kg check in luggage both ways, simple meals ,assigned seat and credit card surcharge* (Calculated as per prevailing available fares on 7th. August 14) A real bargain was available with a return fare to Manila for about A$ 300.– to be booked on 6th or 7 August 2014 only. Low cost airlines have a tendency to offer real specials from time to time even $ 0 fares (only pay the taxes) but those may be difficult to book and could be all sold out even if just released.
*Unfortunately it was not mentioned on Cebu Pacific's website or invoice but clients paying with an Australian Credit card are hit with an surcharge of 3%. Credit card company's taking it as a overseas transaction. Apparently the airline was aware of the problem and is trying to rectify it.
On 5th August the Philippine Department of Tourism and Cebu Pacific Air invited many travel agents to a launch party at Sydney Grace Hotel |
